I updated Mac OS inbto Tahoe and Adobe Photoshop Elements 2022 stopped working entirely. It just returns the following error message and refuses to open:
Adobe Photoshop cannot run on this computer because the minimum system requirement is Mac OS X version
My mac os version (after update) is Tahoe 26.0.1 and it runs on Apple M1 Max.

Yeah, forget about that version, it's done on your os.
There will be no updates to the old , unsupported version of PSE you have to make it work with the latest mac os.
Here is a link to a free 7 day trial of pse 2026:

So this is a total Adobe rip-off? I paid for Photoshop Elements 2022 with the understanding that it would continue to run forever without being sucked into paying again and again. Now that I have a new MacBook Pro M5 running Tahoe 26 there's no excuse for it not running. This is plain theft and criminal behaviour in my opinion.

it would have run forever had you maintained the same computer. ie, adobe did nothing to mess up your pse 2022.

So now the new 2026 PSE 'one time payment version' is just another subscription since you only get 36 months use of the product? I'm going to have to go with an alternative. This is just not right. It's not that great anyway.

You can thank the MAC folks for making it incompatible with the their latest OS.

Yes, that's one way of looking at it. There's no good reason why Apple should care about every single piece of software that a user may install and ensure that's it's compatible forever. I'm going to quit this now and try using Apple Photos, which probably will be sufficient anyway. Thanks.

true, same with windows, but compared to windows mac os'es are notorious for their lack of compatibility.

It is a bit effort, first, logout and uninstall Adobe on macOS Tahoe. Create a partition on your SSD and install on that partition an earlier version of macOS, once you install, turn off automatic updates. You may find instructions on Apple support. You will need external USB storage or Flash drive with at least 32GB to create a bootable volume. Now you go to your Adobe account and download Photoshop Elements 2022 and install.

It's a $99 program- zero reason to waste so much time trying to do "workarounds." Just buy a version that works with your OS and get editing in less than 10 minutes.

There are many who have to work not hours but weeks to earn equivalent of $79.99-$99.99, thus those might find it worth spending a few hours.

then the effort may be worthwhile.
