BACKUP Problem with PSE 14

When I backup my PSE 14 catalog to new folder on my data drive, the backup gets saved in root (top level) of my data drive instead of in the new folder! How can I fix this?

Correct answer MichelBParis

There is no problem to choose the same drive.

I just did the following test: I choose a small catalog for a test.

I created a subfolder in my C:\Dropbox folder.

When specifying the destination, I did choose 'C:', clicked on the 'browse' button, choose the subfolder... and all went well.

My advice is to always create the backup folder on your destination drive in the explorer or finder before starting the backup process. The backup dialog is very clear about chosing the new drive and path for the backup.

Thank you, MichelBParis.

I did exactly what you suggested, except I did not choose a "new" drive.  I want to save each PSE backup on my main data drive inside my computer, so that it will in turn be copied to my "Dropbox" cloud storage (and included in my backups to external HDDs).  But, the PSE Backup operation ignores it when I type the path for the existing target folder (e.g. D: > Dropbox > Element BACKUPS of All Photos > 2017 03 27 PSE Backup).

Is my problem perhaps that PSE 14 does not allow PSE Backups to be saved on the same drive that holds the photos and videos?

Thanks again, MichelBParis

My PSE Backup to a new folder worked this evening!  I deleting my previous 66,113 PSE Backup files in the top level of my data drive before trying again to backup my PSE files.

I guess that PSE ignored my new folder, and defaulted to my previous PSCE backup location as long as those previous PSE backup files were present.
