Best editing tool for image as supplied

I would like to clean up these chewed petals as circled. The CLONE stamp the one? Any and all suggestions welcome. Thanks.

I think it would be easier to select portions of the whole petal and copy the selection (as many times as needed) to a new layer (using Ctrl+J).  Then move and rotate the new layers over the damaged petals.
