Blurry font all of a sudden and photoshop crashes when i move a layer to another file

Hello- thanks for your help!

I have photoshop elements 14.1 on my macbook pro. It's been working great for 2 years.

The following have never been an issue until now-

Suddenly, text (font) looks blurry and pixelated. And, when I move a layer from one active

file that I am working on, into another down in the photo bin, photoshop immediately

crashes.

This is all bewildering and frustrating considering I've always been able to do those

tasks easily.

Thanks very much for your response... but maybe my version of Photoshop is older... I was only able to reset through the drop down menu. I did reset it, and restarted my computer, but the blurry font is still happening

Does Adobe create this situation so that I need to upgrade to Elements 2018? Pleeeaase do not tell me that is true. I bought this software and really need it to work right now. The phone number of customer service says that I can ONLY get help on this forum....that doesn't seem quite responsible enough of them.

The fact you may not like is that Adobe only supports the current version (Elements 2018) and relies on volunteers on this forum to help.

For the current version, the help route is mostly by chat, not telephone.

Anyway, you are mentioning two different and unrelated issues in your first post.

This is not what the photo bin is for. It's to drag files (not layers) FROM the photobin to the working space. However trying to do that forbidden move should not 'crash' your computer. Something is wrong in your setup.

Never seen that. Problems with fonts may be related to your OS (if on Windows 10, be sure to be on the very latest version) or to your hardware.

Try resetting the preferences:

Restore default preferences

Preference settings control how Photoshop Elements Editor displays images, cursors, and transparencies, saves files, uses plug‑ins and scratch disks, and so on. If the application exhibits unexpected behavior, the preferences file could be damaged. You can restore all preferences to their defaults.

Note: Deleting the preferences file is an action that cannot be undone.

Do one of the following:

  • Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Mac: Option+Command+Shift) immediately after Photoshop Elements begins launching. Click Yes to delete the Adobe Photoshop Elements settings file.
  • Go to Edit > Preferences (Mac: Photoshop Elements > Preferences > General), click the Reset Preferences on next launch button, and then click OK. When you restart Adobe Photoshop Elements, all preferences are reset to default settings.

A new preferences file is created the next time you start Photoshop Elements Editor. For information on a specific preference option, search for the preference name in Help.
