I've been using Elements 12 and 15 for years, on a laptop running Windows 10. A few days ago, I did a clean install, and was horrified to learn I could no longer install or use either 12 or 15 (both of which my boyfriend had paid for, and which are registered with Adobe). The 2024 version has virtually nothing more than 12 and 15 had. Is it really impossible to use the older versions? If it's not impossible, is it illegal? If it's neither impossible nor illegal, could someone tell me how to install the older programs? Thanks so much.

I have virtually all versions from version 10 forward installed. Use the old versions.
Ddownload them from your or his adobe account, download em, install em, activate them.
The serial #'s are listed in whatever Adobe account they were purchased under.
Notohing illeagal about it.
The software can be installed on two computers, but can only be used on 1 computer at a time.
You should kame a hard copy of the serial numbers in case you two take different paths in life.

Thank you so much for your response, Glenn. At least now I know it's not illegal. The problem I'm having is that neither 12 nor 15 will install, because I continually get a "sign in" notice -- and every time I sign in, I get the same notice again. And again and again. And unless I could get rid of the continual "sign in," I can't use the programs. I'm wondering now if I should try changing my sign in thingy. I think I'll give it a try, and let you know. Thanks again.

I think I'll give up for tonight, and try again tomorrow. I can find the serial numbers with no problem, and I can download with no problem, but then I get a message saying I need something from the archives that I don't have -- and don't know how to get. I did try downloading with 7zip, but I don't really know how to use it. Thanks again for everything, and I'll try again tomorrow.

Just wanted to give you some good news, Glenn: I finally did get PS Elements 15 installed, and that's good enough for me. Oh, and I didn't get any weird messages this time. By the way: I chatted with Adobe when this first happened, and the tech, although very nice, was quite surprised when I said Elements 12 and 15. He said something like, "Oh, those are so old. They don't even train us how to work with customers on those anymore." Ugh. At my age, something has to have been around a lot longer than that to qualify as OLD.

Can you give us some screenshots of the dialogs that pop up. Do not include any of your personal information in the screenshots.

Thank you, Greg. Believe it or not, I finally did get PS Elements 15 installed, and that's good enough for me. I don't know what the difference is, but I didn't get any weird messages this time. Oh, by the way: I chatted with Adobe when this first happened, and the tech, although very nice, was quite surprised when I said Elements 12 and 15. He said something like, "Oh, those are so old.
