Cannot convert PSE 11 catalog to PSE 15

Just bought a new computer so took the opportunity to also upgrade to PSE 15.  I copied the My Catalog folder across to the new computer and downloaded PSE 15.  Now I am trying to convert the catalog but getting an error "Cannot convert".  Message in the error log is "Failed since Original Catalog was open. Close older version of Elements Organizer."  I have no older version of the Organizer on this computer, it is brand new.  I am running Windows 10.  The actual catalog filename appears to be catalog.pse11db.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,

I'd like to upgrade my PSE 11 to PSE 15. How much would it cost?

    Thanks.

    Hi DAMiddleton,

Can you please provide the following two paths of your "My Catalog Folder" ?

    • path of this folder on the older computer.
    • path of this folder on the new computer (where you have copied manually).

And are these PSE 11 catalogs visible to you in PSE 15 for conversion?

    Thanks,

    Arshla

    Hi Arshla,

Thanks for assisting me with this.

Path on old computer was F:\Photos\my catalog (2)

New computer is: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\My Catalog

The address on the new computer is visible in PSE 15.

    Thanks for this information David.

Please do the following things as per my suggestions:

    1. Please specify whether your earlier machine was 32-bit or 64-bit?
    2. In PSE 15, please ensure that no update is pending for installation. You can check this by going to Help menu > Updates. If any update is pending , first install it.
    3. Also close the application and go to file explorer and type %temp% in top text bar to go to temp folder. Delete all the contents of this folder. Please be ensured that these are just temporary files and deleting them has no bearing on any of your data or application.

Now relaunch and try converting your catalog. It should work fine.

Please get back with your findings.

    Thanks,

    Arshla
