Does the caption and the revised date I add to the photo stay with the photo even if I move the photo to a  new computer.  Scanning years of old photos but want to make sure the info I attach to it will stay when I move to another computer.  Thanks

By default, your captions, tags, notes and ratings are kept in the catalog.

You can select a batch of files and 'write metadata to files', shorcut Ctrl W to be sure all the above data are also saved in the files themselves. Editing a caption and a date_taken is also written on the file.

Check this in the information panel (general and metadata section). Set that panel to detailed view (icon with four horizontal bars right of the 'metadata' title bar). The IPTC section shows what is written in the file metadata header.

To move to another computer (photo files AND catalog), use:

Move Elements Organizer catalog
