HI,
Photoshop Elements newbie here.
How do I amend a line drawing logo to have a completely TRANSPARENT BACKGROUND . . . and then enable me colour the remaining line drawing with any colour from the colour palette?
Example attached
I'm using an iMac with Photoshop Elements 14
Thanks

Whatever you color, or use any filter, or any effect, will work on just the original black part.

Make a clipping mask, BAM! Fill the shape with a photo!

Hi Glenn,
Thanks for your reply. I've tried what you asked.
When using the magic wand in the white, it automatically selects all the enclosed white areas, too.
When clicking the 'layer' lock, what file format should I save it into?
I've tried TIFF, which still gives a white background.

Make sure to check Save Transparency when saving as a TIFF.
Note that some image viewers or apps won't support TIFF transparency.
PSD and PNG will also support transparency.

NOT Layer lock: You need to lock the transparent pixels.
While TIFF files do support transparency, they're incompatible with many web-based programs. Only applications that fully support TIFF files will support TIFF transparency. In some instances, you may need to edit a TIFF file to get the results you need.
My recomendation, based upon the assumption this is for home use / online use: PNG. You can't use JPG- it cant handle transparent backgrounds.
