When I try to use the Clone stamp Tool on my iMac I get the following message, "Could not adjust the clone source because the area to clone has not been defined (option-click to define a source point)" How can I get the Tool to work?

Are you working on a file with more than one layer? If so ensure sample all layers is selected.

If that is not the problem, try a reset.

A simple reset will often do the trick. Go to this link and select the clone tool:

All layers selected and tried reset but to no avail.  Tool appears to occasionally work in reverse.

    Hi,

To use Clone stamp tool, please follow these instructions:

    1) Select the clone stamp tool.

    2) Select the layer on which you want to apply clone stamp tool (Please don't select all the layers).

    3) To select the source point for cloning, point the cursor at the image area you want to paint with, hold down option key, then mouse-click.

    4) Paint with the copied pixels.

Please let us know if you still face any issue.

    Thanks,
