Compatibility of Photoshop Elements 2023 with Mac M2 processor

Community Beginner ,
Oct 23, 2022 Oct 23, 2022

Dear, I am new to both Photoshop Elements and Mac M2.

Please suggest if Photoshop Elements 2023 is compatible natively with Mac M2 processor? If I need Rosetta to use Photoshop Elements 2023 for now. Can I download an upgraded version of Photoshop Elements 2023 in the future ?

Thank you so much

Photoshop Elements 2023 is Apple Silicon Native so it no longer needs Rosetta to run on M1/M2 Macs.

Photoshop Elements 2023 will not open with Luminar 4. I have been told to download Rosetta 2 and did so but even though the download is confirmed I cannot open Photoshop Elements 2023 as there is no prompt to use Rosetta when I go to the Info section of Elements 2023 as instructed by the Luminar 4 folks. I have rebooted and still nothing happens. Can you advise?

Sorry, Luminar 4 will not open with Elements 2023. The rest of what I described above is accurate.

As near as I can tell, Luminar4, LuminarAI is no longer sold. LuminaAI is Apple Si. native but you need rosetta to install it! At some point, you may wish to upgrade to Luminar Neo. It is completely Rosetta free & I tested the plugins with Graphics Converter, also completely native. It all ran fine & Rosetta free. I will try to load them into PSE as soon as I purchase.

Elements 2023 also has an Intel build out which runs Luminar 4. I did not know this until I contacted Adobe and the tech unistalled my old PSE 2023 and installed the Intel version. Now PSE 2023 supports Luninar 4 and they work seamlessly together. Great service from Adobe but they should widely publish this work around for Luminar 4 and other plugin users.

Sorry Jeff but you are wrong - I bought it on 5/13/23 and it will install but WILL NOT RUN on M2 without Rosetta.  PlEASE PULL THIS POST.  Apparently there is some misunderstanding as to what NATIVE means.

Yes, I have difficulties. I have Mac MiniPro M2 and macOS Ventura 13.3.1(a). Yesterday night I downloaded PSE 2023, and received a version which requires Rosetta to be installed. I contacted chat, got a link to another version with ARM in name, but also this requires Rosetta. Another chat person examined my Mac using remote support but could not find a solution. Myself I noted that Elements Auto Creations 2023 showed a sign that Ventura or M2 is not supported.

So far I use my Windows laptop for photo editing.

You are CORRECT - Adobe is not being truthful - 2023 will NOT run on an M2 without Rosetta.  I spent an hour chatting until I got some one to refund my purchase of 2023 version.  DO NOT BUY THIS if you have M2.  It will install but will NOT run without Rosetta. They have buried this info in some KB bulletin which doesn't even clearly state the failure.  As of 5/15/23 their top level marketing info is still saying it will run on Apple silicon.  DO NOT BELIEVE THEM !  Adobe is off my list for anything - cannot be trusted....

Same issue for me. They claim compatibility but when I contacted support via chat they said "I'll be happy to assist you with Photoshop Elements install info. Rosetta is required to run Photoshop Elements on MAC M1 & M2 as Photoshop Elements 2023 is an intel based application as of now" Which is it?

I believe the actual photoshop elements editor is Apple silicon and the organizer is iOS , but some of the required functions like running certain filters, etc still require Intel code to run, which is why Rosetta is still apparently needed.

You can go to Apple>About This Mac>More Info>System Report>Applications and see what it says.

I'm not sure If youall solved this but I was able to get Adobe Photoshop Elements 2023 to run on my MBP M2 Max.  I previously had the windows version and contacted support to get it switched to Mac since the reason for my Windows purchase was that the the 2023 Version of PE was would not run (not suported) on my old 2012 Mac.  After having my lisc swapped for a Mac lisc, they added the new download to my list of products and removed the other one and gave me a new serial.  I was then able to install it using the My Apps section in Creative Cloud and navigating to the new install file.  It took about 11 minutes to install but went smoothly.  No extra promps or software to install.  I should note though that before I installed it i ran the following command from Terminal:

softwareupdate --install-rosetta

It did give me an error but said that it was installed successfully.  I'm not sure what if any role executing this command played in getting things running but I hope this helps someone.

With the terminal command you first installed Rosetta 2 in your computer.
The error was propably that it already was installed.

But the point in my problem was that I wanted to install PhotoShop Elements
without the Rosetta. So Photoshop Elements is not Apple M2 -compatible
because Rosetta is still needed.

I do not have this problem any more. I am now a happy user of Pixelmator
Pro. It is even better than Photoshop Elements.
