Hello there,

maybe I'm to blind to see.

I have a lot of tags to organise my images.

My tags are organized in a couple of categories.

What is the easiest way to check if a tag already exists?

In which categorie is the tag organized?

How can I find multiple tags?

Thanks in advance....

I'm using PSE15 since a few days. Until then I used PSE10.

I've konverted the catalog from the older version.

I tried to use the tag panel but the tags I'm looking for did not appear.

The huge problem for the people tags was the introduction of a different approach in Elements 11. To allow better people recognition and organizing, new families of tags have been created and shown in their own 'tab'. (Similar change with Places for geotagging and event).

I assume you are in a recent version of Elements...

Do you see the the bottom part of the Tags panel named Image tags on the right?

Simply type the first letters of the tag.

A list of the keywords starting with those letters is displayed in a drop-down menu

So long as the word you are typing does not show a corresponding tag, that means the tag is not yet used.

Note that the tag may already exist and may not be already assigned to any media file.

Looking at the tags proposals of the drop-down menu may spare you the problem of assign the same tag with different spelling like 'Nature' or 'nature'.

In which categorie is the tag organized?

Select a file with that tag and double click on the thumbnail to show it filling the browsing space. Look at the botoom line. The various tags of this file will be shown with a small icon corresponding to the category. To better see the list of the categories, collapse them in the tags panel.

I've organized the tags e.g. in categories of  surnames of the familie and friends. There are e.g. multiple first name what I'm looking for....

Many people (like me) prefer the old PSE10 way.

I am not sure how you managed your people tags categories, but I assume you were better with the PSE10 system.

Since you have just converted your catalog, I would suggest to convert your PSE10 catalog again, after having renamed your 'People' category to something like 'MyPeople'. That way, the conversion will not move your people tags into the new family and leave it as before as normal 'media' tags. To convert again, be sure to tick the box on the bottom of the dialog to show 'already converted catalogs'.

The interface in PSE15 is drastically changed, but you should find all your People tags and categories as before. Were you using the English version of PSE10?

Uhhh, that hurts....

From that point of view I prefer the PSE10 way of tagging, too.

I were using the German version of PSE10.
