Elements 12 crashes on iMac when I try to save a manipulated photo

Hi,  so...I load in a photo make adjustments and then when I 'save as' to the desktop the prog crashes, a jpeg file appears on the d/t but it is empty. Also....it weirdly sometimes saves ok if I alternate between desktop/cloud and desktop/file selection on the save menu. Tried other ways to save....same result. Went to system prefs/sec&privacy/unlock to check all ok, and it was.

Stuck now ??? Can anyone help please ???
