I have upgraded from e12 to e15. The guided page is obscured by illustrations which I can't shift, so 'guided' is unusable? How do I clear them?

Those 'illustrations' are icons to choose a function. Nothing is hidden behind them, you simply click on the icon corresponding to the family of effect you want.
