Elements 2022 Open dcm files

I read online that Elements can open .dcm files but when I try I get an error message about not the right file type.  I am using a PC with Windows 11 Home edition. Can a dcm file be opened? If yes, how?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If your dicom files came on a cd/dvd or some other portable storage there may be some viewer software included.

Photoshop 2025 included with the Creative Cloud subscription will open Dicom files, but Photoshop Elements will not.

.dcm files are not listed as supported by Photoshop Elements.

In my experience, as Jeff says, those files found on optical discs come with their own viewing software.  There are a number of free utilities that will apparently convert the files to jpeg.

@CS48-AE is this a Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements question?

I've moved your post from Photoshop to the Photoshop Elements forum.

Are you referring .dcm or Dicom files like you would get from a medical scan?

Thank you all very much for your interest. Since I first posted about this, I installed Microdicom and so I can look at .dcm files and even save them as .jpg files.😊
