Elements 9 & Windows 10

In Windows 10 I cannot set Adobe Elements 9 as my default programme (App as Windows now terms it) Is it that Elements 9 is not compatable with Windows 10 and i should update to a later version. I looked in the windows App store and Elements 2018 is listed.

If I were to update my version 9 through the Adobe web site to 2018 would this then enable me to use it as a defaut App?

Windows is little help on this.

Elements 2019 is still not available on Windows app store, but should be available very soon.

But if you want to try Elements 2019, you can download and install the trial build until it is available on Windows app store.

Link to download and install trial versioin of 2019: Download Photoshop Elements | 2019, 2018, and 15

Also please see the article to change default app settings and check if this helps: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-change-default-apps-windows-10

    Thanks

I have tried all ways to set the default to PSE9 but to no avail. It used to change but since the last 10 upgrade it does not work. I can only assume that my version of PSE9 is to old and not an app. I will await the issue of PSE19 app and hopefully that will allow me to use it as the default programme.

    Thank you for your replies.

You should be able to change the default application in Windows 10:

    windows+10+default+apps

You can't upgrade to 2018, as 2019 is the current version. By the way, if you do upgrade to 2019, you may still have both versions on your computer if you wish, as the "upgrade" is just a price break.  PSE 9 and PSE 2019 will be independent programs.
