Exit Full Screen takes me back to the first picture in folder

In the organizer I often use full screen mode when checking the quality of a picture, since zoom isn't available in the normal view (why?!). When I exit full screen I would expect to return to the view I had immediately before (i.e. the picture displayed in the organizer), but instead the organizer goes back to displaying thumbnails from the top of the folder. This is incredibly annoying, especially considering that I have found no way to delete a picture while in full screen mode!

Is there a workaround to this? Currently I have to go to full screen to zoom in and check for quality (possibly of several similar pictures), then I exit full screen, scroll through hundreds of pictures to find my spot again, and then hope to remember which of a few very similar pics I had decided to delete. I'm hoping someone can suggest a better way.

Unfortunately, that is not new. We do see the same complaints for all older Elements versions.

Adobe considers the F11 full-screen view as mainly an accessory viewer to produce 'instant slideshows. The focus in the F11 view is lost when getting back to the organizer.

Adobe considers the F11 full-screen view as mainly an accessory viewer to produce 'instant slideshows. The focus in the F11 view is lost when getting back to the organizer.

Workarounds...

The tool panel has two useful buttons in the tool strip: Info and Fix.

In the top 'edit' panel you can:

- You can delete directly without leaving the F11 view (waste bin icon). Maybe a bit risky?

- mark your rejected by a temporary star rating like 5 stars. You can select them when returning to the normal view.

- you can add a caption...

There is even a 'pin' icon, but I have not been able to find what it is for...

When you are back in the normal view, you can select by star rating or the caption and decide what to do.

In the bottom 'organize' panel:

- smarter: create a special album to keep the bad pictures. Something like '_reject'; when browsing in F11, add your rejected to that album which will appear on top of the list.

If you ignore the F11 view, it does not take longer to open the file if you have the editor already open and running. In the editor, you can switch instantly from full screen view to 100% pixel view from the top icons of your tool bar: double click on the magnifier or the hand tool. Enabling "allow documents in floating windows in expert mode' is a big plus (see your preferences). My guess is that most Elements users use that instead of F11.

Many users of the organizer or other softwares like Lightroom do use a different program to cull before importing in the catalog. I would suggest the free Faststone or Irfanview for that purpose.

Here is the online help:
