Struggling here as I'm new to Elements 15. Installed this recently on my Mac and noticed that many of my pics in the Organizer now have file names as above but why? Searched the web but can't find anything?? Any help would be appreciated!

HI David,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Elements Organizer shows the filenames as what they are on their original location i.e hard disk/external or removable drive. Please revert to my following queries:

  1. Are these files named differently at their original location outside Organizer?  -To check this, select this file, open the right information panel and click on Location from General accordion. see what is the name of the file in file explorer.
  2. Please attach the screenshot of your application.

Thanks

arshla

Hi Arshia - thanks for getting in contact.

I'm attaching (hopefully!) a screenshot as suggested.

Best wishes

David

Thanks David for this informative screenshot.

So it's quite clear from your screenshot that names in organizer are same as that on your hard disk. As you said

many of my pics in the Organizer now have file names as above but why?

this reason would be unknown to application since they are so in their original form.

If you need more help regarding PSE, please refer to Elements Organizer Topics Page

Hopefully this would help you better.

Have a happy Photoshop Elements Experience.

Thanks,

Arshla
