Handles for cropping are gone after computer upgrade

Hi. I just replaced my computer harddrive and everything seems to be working well but I have a kink with Elements 15. I manipulate a lot of images and am very familiar with how Elements works. Since I got my computer back, however, the "handles" on the sides of the image after applying the crop tool are missing. Before, they were always easily visible but now they appear to be gone. Is there some secret button to click or setting to make so these handles can come back. I can not work with the program as it is now as changing image size and shape are essential to my work. Any help appreciated!

On the tool's option bar, look for a box with lines in it on the right. Click on this to reset the tool.

If that does not fix it, reset preferences to default via Edit>Preferences>General.
