Hello.
I have an Apple computer OS X 10.10.5
I purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 15.
When I am editing a photo and change tools, the TASKBAR at the bottom continually pops up, I must then close it using the dropdown on the far right bottom.
This is VERY ANNOYING! How do I turn it off? I would like to maximize the photo in the WORKSPACE, so that I can see the photo I am working on. I do not need extra clicks and mousing around when I am trying to edit many photos in a sitting.
Also, when I add text, there is an annoying floating window that covers some of the photo and I can't tell exactly where I am placing the text until I commit the text to get rid of the floating check box.
The older versions allowed you to see the computer back ground. HOW TO I MAXIMIZE MY WORK SPACE without all of the FLUFF and extra windows and menus?

You can uncheck Auto Show Tool Options so the tool options don't keep appearing.
You can move the text somewhere away from the edge using the Command key to drag the text and then reposition it after
inserting your text
Since photoshop elements 10 on the mac side there is no turning off the application frame as in earlier pse versions.
You can press the Tab key to hide the toolbox and other panels and then press the tab key again to show them.

1 - Try to set your preferences in the menu Edit >> Preference >> General tab to 'allow floating document window in expert mode'. A single click to switch form general screen to doc only.
2 - remember the 'tab' shortcut which hides panels on and off.
3 - It's possible to use two displays, one for the image window, the other one for the interface.

You'll find several post about that issue: the general use is to create your text first and independently from its positioning. You create it with the right size within the document window, then you move it very precisely where you want.
I don't remember any previous Elements versions working differently?
