How can I see the location (place) in Media view?

In media view I can see the date, file name and number of stars under each thumbnail. How do I also see the location that the picture was taken along with the date, file name and number of stars?

Hi Donald,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

First thing that is important for the possibility you have asked for is that the image should have the GPS information associated with it in case you have not tagged it yourself from Places view.

So if an image has GPS information, you can see them automatically in Pinned Places view as pins on map at their respective locations.

In case you want to see it's location in Media room then in Places view hover-over this pin and click on Get Location Name as show

Hi Donald,

In case you want to see it's location in Media room then in Places view hover-over this pin and click on Get Location Name as shown below:

Now when you go to Media view , you can see it's location information in right panel under Image Tags section when that file is selected.

Refer to this video to better understand this:

Hoping that this would answer your query.

Thanks,

Thanks. I now see the location under image tags. However, my problem is: I add a new image (with GPS coordinates) to the media view and then go to the places view, there are hundreds of images already pinned, so finding my new image takes a long time. After I find it, I get "get location" and it will show under image tags. But finding the new image on the map takes too long amid hundreds of images already in the same area. What I would like is for the program to read the GPS on the image, determine the location, and tag the image without me having to go to the places map.

When I use my iPhone, the new image appears under Photos already labelled with the location based on the image GPS. That is what I was looking for in PSE.

Hi Donald,

I am glad that your first query has been answered to.

But finding the new image on the map takes too long amid hundreds of images already in the same area

What you can do for making this quick is that in Media room, put these new files into an album (through left panel, albums tab) and when you go to Places view , click on this album in left panel. This would show you only the pins with media in that album and not all of the catalog media.

What I would like is for the program to read the GPS on the image, determine the location, and tag the image without me having to go to the places map.

Thanks for your feedback. I will raise this request with me Engineering team and let them see to it in a best possible way.

Have a happy Photoshop Elements experience.

Thanks,

Arshla
