How to uninstall PSE 15 on Big Sur?

I have upgraded to MacOS Big Sur 11.4.

I have the new Photoshop Elements 2020 version to install, but I first want to uninstall the old PSE 15 version.  When I try to run the uninstaller I get the message that this app needs to be updated to work with this version of MacOS.  

“{C6EE21C5-B5A7-4062-8BDD-F59EFD731828}” needs to be updated.

Is there another method to uninstall PSE 15?

I had a long chat session with Adobe. We ended up trashing several files,
emptying the trash and installing PSE 2020 along with an update.

That took quite a bit of time so I only loaded one photo and at least it
will launch. I read about PSE 2021 is necessary for Big Sur, but I don’t
know the specifics. I’m not a heavy PSE user, don’t use Video, or the
Organizer. Do you happen to know what areas I might experience problems?

I was very please and impressed with Adobe Chat support.
Time will tell whether everything will work.

Hello there - I have the same issue but I'm not sure I want the latest PSE version if its not going to work with Big Sur. I just want to uninstall PSE15 so what do you need to trash?

On MacOS i usually use an app called AppCleaner from Freemacsoft to uninstall software. Download it and run it (from the downloads folder). you then get an AppCleaner window. From Finder ---> Applications you then drag the application you want to uninstall to that window. 

The pp will then search for what to remove for this application.

Thank you - I will give this a go.
Updating to Big Sur was not my greatest move as so many apps no longer work
and it seems they can't be updated so the uninstall isn't functional -
really annoying when some apps have been paid for.

Good to hear that it worked out. 
personally i would always try with appcleaner. 
https://freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/

no install, just start the app and drag the app that you want to uninstall from applications into the appcleaner app. 
the cleaner will search for files from the app that you want to remove and lets you remove them easily.

Hi Bonnie,

 

Well, that's definitely a Catch-22 situation - you can't run PSE 15 on Big Sur, and you can't run the PSE 15 uninstaller either. 

 

To be honest, you've got a couple of choices - leave PSE 15 on your Mac and try & forget it's there. You can have multiple versions of Photoshop Elements installed on your computer without them interfering with each other. Personally, I'd have to get over my natural instinct to want a "perfect" system setup, as the only way that will happen is to back up all my files, and do a fresh, clean, new install of Big Sur.

 

BTW You say you've got a copy of Photoshop Elements 2020... I hope you mean 2021, otherwise you'll find that the 2020 version is not supported on Big Sur.

 

Your other choice - which is the one I'd seriously consider if Photoshop Elements was my most-used application and I didn't have the 2021 version - is to downgrade back to an earlier version of macOS:

So glad to hear you had a great experience with the Adobe Support team 🙂

 

Hopefully, everything will go smoothly with Photoshop Elements 2020 on Big Sur. Whilst it's not officially supported (i.e. it hasn't been tested on Big Sur), fingers-crossed you won't run into any major difficulties. User reports of how well it runs on Big Sur seem to be a bit thin on the ground. This could be due to the much smaller Mac user base, and the fact that most Elements problems/questions seem to revolve around the new M1 chip and the 2021 version rather than Big Sur itself. The only thing that really springs to mind regarding the Elements Editor is a possible problem with the Save for Web feature.
