Import albums

Community Beginner ,
Jun 08, 2017 Jun 08, 2017

I have upgraded from Photoshop Elements 13 to  Photoshop Elements 15. My file have been imported to Photoshop Elements 15, but not my albums. How do I import them. I can still access Photoshop 13 from the icon on desktop.

Thank you for any help,

Morris

Hi Morris,

Do you want to use your PSE13 catalog in PSE15?

If yes, best way is to convert your PSE13 catalog in PSE15. FOr details around catalog conversion, please see Create and edit catalogs in Adobe Elements Organizer

Thanks,

Anwesha

Morris,

More details:

- It seems you have installed PSE15 on the same computer as your PSE13. All your image files are still on your computer, no need to 'import' them. Those image files are not 'in PSE13', they are on your computer and PSE13 keeps links to their location in the database of its own catalog. Each Elements version comes with a slightly new catalog format; PSE15 can't read the PSE13 format directly.

- The catalogs holds informations about albums, stacks, version sets, creations. That kind of information can't be 'written to files' like for keywords, captions and notes.

- If you 'import' the images in your new PSE15 catalog, you can retrieve keywords, captions and notes, not albums, stacks etc. if you have written metadata to files.

- so the much easier and faster solution is to 'convert' the PSE13 catalog as indicated by Anwesha. Elements version can convert catalogs of earlier versions, which is much faster than importing again (in this case, importing is not downloading, it's only indexing the files in its database).

- Even if you had uninstalled PSE13, the PSE13 catalog would still be available for conversion. You have probably missed a message during the installation of PSE15 prompting you to convert your current catalog, but you can start a conversion when you want.

- Note that the PSE13 catalog will still be available for the PSE13 program (renamed with a -1 suffix)

The problem would be different if you changed computers or drives as well as upgrading. In that case the solution is to backup your library and catalog and restore it on custom location.

Move Elements Organizer catalog | Elements 6 or later

Thanks, I have now access the Albums in Photoshhop 15.

Just another question. I have saved the catalogue to a portable hard drive.

Is it possible to save the whole of the People folder, as a  folder, onto a hard drive?

Thanks

Morris
