When I go to import files they will not show up unless they are altered and saved in the photo editor app. For instace, I have one file with 50 Jpg's/Mov's. I tell it to import the file (i have even tried highlighting the files by hand as well as all other forms of bulk/file import setups). it does it's Import loading pop up, looks like everything is fine, ends up telling me that 43 of 50 were imported but only 3 show up in the folder/list. If I open one of the images in the photo editor make any adjustment and re-save the image it pops up instantly in the organizor without having to do anything (I presume because the folder is being watched). This is just one folder though, my hardrive should have about 65,000+ files on it in total and only 6323 are showing up for what I suspect to be the same reason. Is there any way to fix this?

What is not clear for me:
- do you import 'from files or folders' or 'from camera or card reader'?
- when the import process is done, you get the dialog with the '43 of 50'were imported' message. An explation is then shown for the missing 7 (generally not supported files or files already in the catalog). Do you get that explanation?
- 'only 3 show up in the folder/list': I assume you are looking in the folders panel on the left. Are you in folders tree view or in flat alphabetical list? You should be in tree view.
- At that stage, only the files imported in the catalog should be selected and shown in the main browsing space. Do you get 43 files?
- If you get out from 'import batch' view by clicking on 'Show All' you can see all your files according to your chosen sort order.
- The watch folder service does not come into play at that stage. It's a background process operating independently from the 'Import' process.
- The total number of files in your harddrive is irrelevant, the organizer only knows what has been imported in the catalog (that is referenced, indexed since the catalog only contains links, not media files). The left folders panel on 'tree' view only shows by default the subfolders containing media files in the catalog.
A screenshot of your full display might help in understanding what you are seeing. (from the forum, use the 7th icon in the header of your post).

Thank you for the reply. Please see the below screen shots of the process:
what I see currently see for this one folder:
to add files I click the 'Import' tab and then select 'From Files and Folders...':
I click 'get media" and see this:
so by my logic I should be seeing 63 files once I click ok but instead it still looks like this:
but strangly if I open one of the files in Photo Editor:
Make any changes and save
Open the Organizer back up and magically it appears:
obviously I do not want to have to save every single picture in this folder muchless the drive as a whole. I have run the import multiple times for the whole drive and see this:
and only gotten this many files:
I hope this helps explain my problem.
Is this happening because I am only using the free 30 day trial?

Hi,
Seems like you have applied filter for only photos to be visible.
Go to View Menu> Media Types and chek all the options that are unchecked.
Let me know if that works.
Thanks,
Arshla

unfortunately in the example you replied to about half of the files were images and half were videos and only a couple of the images showed up (all images in the file are .jpg file types as well). I am starting to think that it is a size issue. I tried selecting files individually and they would load no problem (which might explain why when I alter 1 it pops in quickly). But when i select the all of the images & movies from this one folder it goes through the normal Import motions, but nothing shows up on the screen. Selecting all 57 files tallies up to 30.5 gigabytes. Is this something the program/my computer would balk at?

Rick,
I'll be prudent here for two reasons:
- I don't use a network. I know that may cause a number of unexpected results and that Adobe does not support (helps with) network problems on Elements.
- your very accurate description and display show something abnormal as the result of the import. The first message about files not imported is right and normal. You should see, as expected, ALL the files imported, not only 3. That explains the possible additional 'filter' suggested by arshla jindal.
Two possible tests:
- just after the 3 thumbnails are shown, go to 'Show all' and set the sort order to 'Import batch'. What do you see?
- from your explorer, copy the files you want to import to an USB stick or card and import again (in the current catalog and in a new empty one). What happens then?
