The only pdf format supported with the organizer is the 'Photoshop pdf' format. It's a combination of a true Acrobat pdf plus a true layered psd. That's the format exported by the editor. That format can be opened directly from either Acrobat, PSE, Photoshop without conversion to bitmap. The format supports layers and vector layers (text, shapes). The main drawback is the big size of the Photoshop pdf files.
On the PSE editor side, if you want to 'save' your photos into Acrobat pdf, use a virtual pdf printer like Microsoft 'print to pdf', included in Windows, to 'print' to a pdf file instead of saving.
