Importing PEF files from Pentax K-1 Mark II

Question

I just purchased and installed Photoshop Elements 2018 onto my Windows OS. I cannot import my files from my new Pentax K-1 Mark II. After it tries to import the photos I get an error message saying  "The file is damaged or is in a format that cannot be included in Elements Organizer". I have downloaded the RAW format plug in also, but this doesn't seem to help. Does this program not support these files? Is there a way to go around this?

Adobe just released a camera raw 10.4 update that opens pefs from the Pentax K-1 Mark II, but unfortunately the update is only for photoshop cc and not photoshop elements 2018.

Fortunately you can use the adobe dng converter 10.4 if you need to for the pef files.
