Is there still hope for Elements 2.0

Hello,

I've had it for years and it was working on my old IMac. I'm perfectly content with this program and don't really need anything more since I'm not a professional. I'm getting a 150:30 error message when trying to open the program after migrating it to my new IMac Sierra 10.12.6. Am I simply out of luck or is there a solution?

Thanks...fingers crossed,

Ok my problem has been solved by Adobe Chat Support...even though E8 is an "end of life" product.  Here's the solution for anyone else that has encountered this problem.

"Please go to macintosh HD->Library-> Application support-> FLEXnet publisher folder and then copy the FLEXnet publisher folder to the preferences folder in the location macintosh HD->Library->preferences."

Following earlier instructions I had already tried deleting the FLEXnet publishers folder from App Support..that didn't work but after the above Elements 8 is up and running.

You might try a Google search on "photoshop elements 150:30" or similar.

Sorry to be late with this reply but I received no notifications of new posts...???  Turns out I had Elements 8 and yes is does support 16bit dng. files. Does this mean that I stand a chance of getting 8 to open?  If that answer is no then I've been able to verify with the trial version of Elements 2018 has all the bells and whistles that I'm used to. Once I found the expert 'mode.'  I'm ok with buying 2018 unless someone think I can correct the problem with E8 opening.

Much thanks to everyone for your help!

Yes there is a chance you can get pse 8 working.

The problem occurred because while transferring (migration) usually works for most software, since adobe installs stuff all over the hard drive and not just in the applications folder like most mac applications, migration hardly ever works for adobe applications.

That's why your getting that error when trying to start pse 8, because some of the required files didn't get transferred over.

Anyway, i'd be tempted just to try running the pse 8 installer from here and hopefully that should work.

You need your pse 8 serial number for it to work.

    Download Photoshop Elements versions 9, 8, 7

Then you'll need to follow the instructions here under Creative Suite 5.5, 5, and 4 to get pse 8 installed.

JA, I'm getting a message that 'setup can't be opened because it's from an unidentified developer.'  Can I add a developer? I'm ready with my serial number.

    Thanks again for your help.

Sorry to say that photoshop elements 2 won't work on any Intel processor mac.

The reason photoshop elements 2 won't work on your mac is that pse 2 was made to run on macs with PowerPC processors and your mac has an Intel processor.

The current version adobe sells of photoshop elements 2018 should run on your mac.

Yes I've downloaded and installed the trial 2018. I'm concerned that when I open a dng image it displays at 8bits. In 2.0 they open in 16bit with some filters available. Also I opened psd files and the layers are there but 'flatten/merge layers' was grayed out? Could be learning curve issues on my part. I'll look for other Elements users here. Thanks

As far as I know no version of Element had 16bit color support.  Its Adobe Camera Raw may be able to save 16bit color images but Elements I do not believe can edit these in 16bit color depth mode.  I could be wrong for I have not used any recent versions of Photoshop Elements
