Just curious: Why does photoshop elements default to Lighten Shadows by 35 percent?
I'm referring to the Shadows/Highlights item under Adjust Lighting in the Enhance menu. I've always wondered why Lighten Shadows is preset to 35%, whereas the other entries in that dialog box (and almost every dialog box I can think of offhand, aside from Sharpen) defaults to 0%, making you take some action in order to effect a change. It's annoying, as I always have to adjust that slider first, even if I've only come to darken highlights or adjust midtones, but I'm sure there must be a reason behind this default. Does anyone know what it is?
