I am trying to learn to use layer masks in Photoshop Elements. I can fill sith black color and then paint white to get my picture visible, but if I paint to much white I can not get it black again. I am trying to paint with a brush, using black color.

Does anybody know what I might be doing wrong?

Is there any setting I must change to do it black again?

  • Make sure that the mask thumbnail is selected.

  • Press D to set the foreground and background colors to the default black and white.

  • Press X to switch between painting with black and white.

No, the mode was not set to "normal".

Now it works fine!

Thanks a lot!
