Missing Adjustment Pins

When using smart brush adjustments in Photoshop Elements 14, there are no adjustment pins after the initial adjustment.  Working thru lessons from Adobe CIB and the book shows a pin for each adjustment made. Have I not ticked an option or is there a hidden way to correct this?

Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing and also tell us on which page are you referring to.

All steps are completed from page 120-121 Adobe Photoshop Elements Classroom In A Book. Note very small adjustment pin for the blue sky 1 adjustment and lighten skin tone adjustment. No pins for blue sky 2 and Lighten skin tone 2. I am working on fairly new iMac.
