Mixer Brush and smudge tool

Engaged ,
Sep 11, 2023 Sep 11, 2023

Hello, I have a problem with PE2023.

I'm following a course/ tutorial and in a lesson they says to use the Mixer Brush. Now, Adobe Elements , I don't know why don't have a mixer brush (since it's similar to the smudge tool), I hope it will be introduced in the next update, as,  it's a simple tool and can fit good , also together the smudge tool, to be added in Photoshop Elements.

For now, I can 't go on on the tutorial, as the mixer brush it seems different from the smudge tool, or , do you know if there's a way to reach the same effect with other options /tools?
I don't know, maybe the most expert could find a way to obtain the results the same (since elements it reach the effects in less time and is more 'immediate', but I don't know the software well yet.

How can I find a way to make a mixer brush in Photoshop Elements 2023?

And, basically, what are the differences between mixer brush and smudge tool?

Thank you in advance for the help!

I believe that the Mixer Brush is available in Photoshop. You are posting in the Photoshop Elements forum.

Check on this web site if any of the brushes may work for you as a substitute. If so, download and install in PSE Presets >brushes directory.

Thank you, I will try those in case, and if I can do request, I wish also Photoshop Elements could have mixer brush, as is very similar to the smudge tool, I hope it can be added in the next updates, since mixer brush is often used together /along the smudge brush in the tutorials I'm following.

Thanks for the informations!

Hi @Valentina ♡, the Mixer Brush is a very sophisticated tool designed for use by graphics artists in Photoshop CC.  You can read more about it here.  I think you are the first person to ever mention it in the Elements forum.  In my opinion, it is not something that the average Elements user would have a need for and I don't think it would ever be included in this program.

Unfortunately, if you fill out the feature request form linked by hatstead, it will bring you back to this forum.

If you find that you need the more advanced tools available in Photoshop CC, there is a Photographer's Plan subscription service that costs about $10 per month.

Thank you for let me know.. yes if I go in the page Feature requests, I always return here.
Anyway, the problem is that the mixer brush is anyway a tool very similar to Smudge tool, but the smudge tool simply 'move' the color, the mixer brush , mixed the colors. I mean yes the new mixer brush 2023 is more sofisticated (I saw the latests things it can do but of course for Photoshop Elements I mean to add the mixer brush in a Version like it was before, and leave the more sofisticated lately updates for this tool, available for who is Professional and had Photoshop cc6. For Photoshop Elements it would be also good to have also a mixer brush, not sofisticated as its today, of course. o

I don't think it would  be a big deal, to add also a simple mixer brush on next updates if chann of Photoshop Elements (since elements have also an 'impressionist' brush), so I really hope they may add also the mixer brush. Many people also searched the mixer brush but never asked so much just because like me, when at the beginning i was searching for a mixer brush, I found discussions that says it was not available for PE, so I didnt wanted asking. Photoshop cc6 have many many other tools that if someone is really a professional, I think can have subscriptions, but is not convenient for me have subscription , as I don't use photoshop for job, and subscription would not make so much convenience in my case.

Photoshop cc6 is $10 per month, I think for student, but for housewifes, I don't know I think it 's around $20 or $25 per month.
for 12 months   for 5 years it would cost $600... for a professional photographer  is ok but for the usage I do myself, not much. Anyway I hope they may adding one day. After all, professionals that have subscriptions are many, so who knows, maybe one day will help also who can't permit a subscriptions, at least to add these little but useful tools in simple Version not the sofisticated updated tool , (photoshop cc6 surely will still be good for photographers and professionists) these will never end for Adobe and I'm glad , if one day I could become great in a job with photoshop surely I will have Photoshop me too,
Thanks again for the help!

I have the cheapest photoshop plan:  I pay $10.84 a month.

", I don't know I think it 's around $20 or $25 per month. "   Nope, 100% incorrect.  The photography plan with 20GB ins only $9.99 a month--- they really push the 1 TB plan for $19.99 a month.

This is a screenshot of the latest version of photoshop.  It's up to date as of 10 minutes ago.  Adobe CC told me I had updates to a bunch of stuff.

If I log into my adobe account with my school credentials I have all the adobe applications in that creative cloud plan---When I log into CC with my personal credentials I see the stuff I pay for each month--- Love the photoshop templates simply because they work 100% of the time, unlike when you work with photoshop templates in PSE.

Adobe CC is great for keeping you informed about updates.

I personally think the fonts alone are worth way more than the $10.84 a month I pay.

Thank you for let me know. Yes, I can also understand you, but all depends on many type of people and the usage they do of Photoshop.

It' s of course a good price 9,99$ for people or Professionals that used Photoshop every day and also have incomes thanks to Photoshop that is a standalone software and is good price for certain type of people.

Photographers or professionals that also need more updates, new features and need Photoshop leatest versions as they use it for job and is important to be always updated softwares.

But for another different type of people, like housewifes or people that use it at home for little projects or to learn it, the price it would be a great expensive software.

To pay even an expensive software as is it Photoshop, it still could make sense for these type of second kind of people, if at least one could purchase one time only:in that case, the price they pay would be around $600 or less if Photoshop old versions could be distribuited again for purchase one time only. In fact, one could spend $600 or $700 but after all it would be only once.

I usually used softwares for 20 years

(example Word processor since 2004 up to 2023= 22 years)

With a subscription, it could be not convenient for the second cathegory of people like me, because :

$9,99 x 12 months = $119

$119 x 5 years = $595

$119 x 10 years = $1,190

Unfortunately, if I should  pay Photoshop for 20 years I would spend $2,380.

This can seems yet a good price because in 20 years this happens, but... at the end, that's the price actually one have to spend. Its obviously too much for a person that use photoshop but not even have a job with it. So for professionals is ok, but not for other users like me.
And also, the price , can seems good if one consider only photoshop , but what will happens when all the softwares also requires subscriptions, just like Adobe do? Clearly it would be not possible for the world to pay so much subscriptions. We have to consider things from everyone point of view ,so the correct is the middle. So, the ones that have a job and companies and photographers should have compulsory a subscription and full photoshop . And the ones that don't have professional usage or job or company, should have full photoshop at a price that is affordable for people (considering a price that is good also compared if everyone should start a subscriptions for all softwares). So the price of photoshop for certain category should be no more than 300 $ (this is the media price of softwares that the mass can purchase in one time payment). Professional since have  a job with photoshop will be the ones that will do the rest and pay photoshops subscriptions .

So, its ok for who is Professional to Support Adobe with subscriptions, but I think it would be good if Adobe could consider also to make some other packages for who wish to purchase one time only and just update to have at the end the One time purchase only - Photoshop. With years, one, with updates, could even reach $700, but at the end, it will be really like to purchase it one time only.

Its not only a matter of price  . At the end of the day, with efforts one could spend (if have a job) $9,99 per month. But the problem that Adobe should consider is another : what will happens of all, I mean, all the software companies will start to sell their softwares only by subscription? Can we image a world where everything, to be used, need a subscription? Also Adobe Developers themselves, what would think, if every single software or product they use, it would start to be sold with only a subscription? Thats the main problem with this type of strategy. It will become really hard for everyone. So, thats why I think its good to have Photoshop for subscription, compulsory for all people that have a Company and all the Graphic studios, Photographer studio, School trachers in Schools, and similar structures, and at the same time, without make a Limited version of a software, but just given more features (new) to the subscriptions ones, but give also a software with the same base features of a real Photoshop cs6 to the second cathegory of people as well. I mean, is not to have a software with less features for who want to purchase one time only and is not a Professional, but instead, gives More features new to the one that have subscriptions, but leave at least more features (like the mixer brush) for who is not so luckly to have a job or use Photoshop for Professional reasons, but yet with to use the great Photoshop, for their personal Projects or little experiments... theres nothing to worry about it, because they will always have the support base from the Professional ones... I think sometimes when many years ago, what should say those who made great big softwares and they selled for purchase one time only? Or the games producers that sell a game one time only? Especially once? It was hard, but today, thanks to subscriptions, they can have both, the supports of Professionals and the purchase one time only (plus some updates releases) from the ones not professionals that dont think its convenient to have a subscription.

Wow... if you read till here... thanks! Lol

I know, if I had a real job, of course, I would not even think about it.. but surely if everyone would request subscriptions, we would be all in serious difficulty...

I think theres need to project something also in the light of the future.. this is my point of view of course, and everyone have their point of view, I can understand... I hope anyway The mixer brush at least will be available one day! eheh
