More Adobe-Licutil erros

Hi,

   PSE 2022 on a late 2015 Mac running OS 12.7.6

 

    As with other people I am getting the license utility failure on my Mac since early october (PSE 2025 launch).  I've not knowingly had an update to either my OS or PSE, although PSE may well have updated without my knowing.  After the failure, PSE will run as before save that the check for updates is ghosted.  Any ideas?

 

  I also have Bridge installed on my machine.  In a vain effort to fix the problem I uninstalled Bridge and CC.  Then uninstalled PSE and Premiere (which also causes the licutil, but I prefer using iMovie, so no big deal).  I then deleted any ADOBE looking plist in the library and any other ADOBE-esque products and rebooted.  Then re-installed PSE, only for the fault to remain.

 

  I really don't want to be bothered with yet another purchase of new software.  Frankly, I used to have PSE (and premiere) 14 and there is nothing new in 2022 that I use.  So, I'm hardly likely to pay for 2025.  In fact the only reason I went to 2022 was because 14 used to throw an error on starting, before running as normal.

 

  Is this a ploy by Adobe to damage their original products when the release a new version, to force a purchase?

Not it is not a "ploy."     Part of you difficulty is due to restrictions created by apple.   Another part that frustrats users is that the expect new software to be compatible with their older OS.   Your current OS does not meet the minum requirements for PSE 2025.

Difficulties with earlier versions (pre pse 2025) have arisen, and sometimes it's directly attributed to the user, and how they have their computer configured- in particular users will disable background processes that Adobe needs to run correctly- which in actuallity goes against the EULA for any adobe product.

I will research the liscensing issue and give you a more detailed response about that later.   

Others with tons more experience than what I have will see your post and provide really good info on how to fix things for you.

Please remember this is a user helping users forum-  ocassionally Adobe employees do respond.

DO NOT redspond to any messages you receive, unsolicited help, where the user email ends with outlook.com- those are a 100% scam.   Adobe enployees never ever will send you a message, unsolicited.  Messages from Adobe employees always end with Adobe.com

In case there is confusion.  I have PSE 2022 and not PSE 2025.  I don't want to install PSE 2025 and so am not sure the incompatibility with my OS and that software is relevant.  PSE 2022 has been working fine for two years.  

I understand your statement about disabling background tasks that ADOBE needs.  I haven't done that.  Also I removed every ADOBE application and did a clean install.  So even if it was because of something I did, the wipe and re-install would have fixed it.  I did think that having CC on the machine (so I can use Bridge) might have meant something "new" was introduced and that was the main reason I did the wipe and re-install.

 

as has been raised with other people's posts - this problem is new for me (and them), only after PSE 2025 was released.  A coincidence?  Or did Adobe push a new version of licutil without testing it on existing setups.  If this is the issue, then perhaps there is a way to stop licutil from starting.  After all, I doubt there will be any more updates for PSE 2022.
