I have been using PSE14 for some time now and haven't experienced any issues, ever. I've been away from it for a while and just yesterday (after a few mos.) sat down to edit some recent photos. I found it impossible to complete any edits. The screen would initially freeze and the program would then crash. A message indicating that there was insufficient RAM might then appear. I tried re-loading from the disk provided but to no avail. Every subsequent attempt to edit ended in the same manner. I checked the conversations regarding issues from other PSE14 users and there were some similarities. Solutions were offered to adjust the Registry but, they weren't quite specific enough for my situation and any corrective chains offered just didn't quite correspond to what I was seeing as I followed them. Could this also be a compatibility issue with recent Windows updates downloaded? Any suggestions?

Those solutions did work for thousands of users with the same Windows update problem.
If they don't work for you, there is something wrong in the way you have applied the registry fix. It's enough to have a space added to the 'Dword' for instance.
Can you copy and paste the first twelve lines of the dialog you get from the menu 'Help >> System Information' ?
This will tell if the registry edit has been correctly applied. How much RAM in your computer?

Just so we are on the same page, where on the Adobe page does this appear?

My PC has 4.00 GB of RAM. I clicked on *"Error: An integer between 50 and 8
is required I Windows 10*. I performed the following actions:
- Pressed Windows logo and R, opening the *Run *dialog.
- Typed regedit, pressed enter.
- Once in the Registry Editor, I navigated to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\adobe\ I named the new key as *Photoshop
Elements\14.0* folder.
- I right clicked the folder and was about to create a new register key ...
*DWORD value.*
*- *I named the new key as OverridePhysicalMemoryMB, then pressed Enter
.
- Right clicked the new key and chose Modify.
- Then selected the Decimal option.
- The next step was to change the Value Data from 0 to a numeric megabyte
value reflecting the PC's physical memory.
That's where I lost it. The PC has 1 Terabyte but I could not ascertain the
correct value. The process ended.

The title of this thread says RAM and your first sentence has the number, 4GB of RAM--which translates to 4000MB so enter 4000.

Have you tried this and did it work?
I'm having a similar issue with PSE15. Seems I have a RAM issue despite having plenty or RAM. I am not able to use the Crop tool at all. Other tools work intermittently, and I can't seem to save any of the work I've done regardless of format Raw, JPG, PSD.

I am afraid I took the easy option & got everything corrected in 2 mins with a remote ‘chat’ (free) as I am not up to doing it myself. I had the same problems - all due to a Windows update. I bought the APE 18 update hoping it would cure the problem I had with APE 14 but it didn’t. Hope you manage somehow!

It is the only thing that works, if you're on Windows 10 1803, at least on older versions of PSE up through the current 2018/16.0.
Presumably PSE 2019/17.0 will have things fixed to be compatible with Windows 10 1803.
Here is my version of the instructions with more screenshots of how to get started:
Re: Photoshop Elements 2018 memory problems - unable to edit and save files
There are two things that might be different for people compared to mine:
1) The version of Elements could be different. In my example I am fixing the current PSE2018/16.0 so I expand the 16.0 registry key. You might be using an older version so just expand whichever registry key that corresponds to the version you use. On my computer, I fixed 14.0 and 16.0 by expanding each and adding the same DWORD under each set of keys.
2) The amount of RAM memory on your computer might be different. In my example, 8000 corresponds to 8GB. Use 4000 if your computer has 4GB of RAM, or enter 16000 for 16GB of RAM, etc.
