Question

OPening a Jpeg in RAW

When I used Elements 8 I recall that I could select a Jpeg thumbnail and go to file then select open as. Then select RAW this would open in the RAW work-space.  I have been using Elements 11 now for a few years and take photographs mainly in the RAW format. But I have just tried to open an existing Jpeg in RAW but cannot seem to find the way that I used to in Elements 8. Am I doing something wrong or has that facility been dropped in Elements 11?

There does not seem to be anything in any of the drop down menus or help to show how to do this.

Your sure you don't have File>Open As if your using pse 11 on windows?

The mac version of pse 11 doesn't have Open As.

Also, File>Open in Camera Raw wasn't until pse 12

    Jeff,

I don't know about Macs, but I remember there was different posts or blogs from Barbara Brundage on the subject.

Useful resource for users of old Mac versions:

In Windows, before the change to the command 'Open with camera raw', you could use 'Open As' and select the raw format.

I do edit batches of jpegs in the ACR module from the editor. It's a pity you can't open jpegs in Camera Raw from the organizer.

    Edit:

I think it's only with PSE12 that you can open several jpegs at the same time from the editor in the ACR module:

Can I open multiple jpeg files in Adobe Camera Raw ?

Open JPEG files in Adobe Camera Raw in Photoshop Elements

    Good afternoon / Evening all.

Thank you all for your prompt reply to my post. I have cracked it and it was my fault probably through inexperience in using features I do not usually use. I am sure it was a lot easier in Elements 8 but that was many moons ago.

    Best regards all

As far as I know, there is no way to open a jpeg in the Camera Raw module from the organizer. You can open one or several jpegs at the same time in that module from the editor command: "Open in Camera Raw" The only way to open from the editor up to PSE8 was to use the add-on by John R Ellis:
