organizer 2020 vs organizer 2025 adobe elements how does it recognize upgrade

i HAVE adobe elements 2020 on my window 10 laptop. In some cases it will not download :upgrade the adobe elements 2025- explain if this should happen why, .

concerned about: my current 2020 organizer vs organizer on adobe elements 2025 will it intergrate properly?

have about 15mb on my Asus window 10 laptop how much space do I need? CAn I choose parts of 2025? intersted in the upgrade of the tools, for editing , i do not need video ( which i think is not offered in the regular adobe elements, anyway. REad that window 10 will not be supported after Ocotber 2025- if I buy a new computer it will automatically have window 11 on it - will i have to reinstall 2025? HOw will i be able to transfer all my data that is in the organizer to a new computer which i am seriously  considering, 

Does it matter what version of window 10 vs window 11 that i mighy upgrade too will adobe elements work with either verison of window 10 or 11?

• Elements 2025 is an entirely separate program from Elements 2020.  (It is not an upgrade to the older program but as an Elements user you are entitled to a discount if you buy 2025.  Note that 2025 is a 3 year term license, not a perpetual license like Elements 2020.)
• I'm assuming that you have 15GB, not 15MB, of free space on your Asus Win 10 laptop.  In theory, you could install Elements 2025, but it would be very tight if you do not delete the older program first.  And with such a low amount of free space, you are asking for trouble.
• If you install Elements 2025 on the laptop, the first time that you launch the Organizer, it will ask you if you want to convert your catalog.   Depending on the size of your catalog, you should answer yes.  If you have enough room left on your laptop, the program will make a copy of your original catalog and convert it to a new Elements 2025 catalog.  Elements 2020 will still work with the old catalog and Elements 2025 will work with the new one.  However, once the conversion has been successfully created you should only work with Elements 2025, since changes to one catalog will not be reflected in the other one.
• If you purchase a new computer, you will only need to install Elements 2025 on it.  You will also need to backup your active catalog (either 2020 or 2025) and restore it to the new computer.  See the instructions in this HelpX Article which tells you how to move a catalog from one computer to another.  If you do not convert your 2020 catalog to Elements 2025 on your old computer, making a backup with Elements 2020 will allow you to restore and convert it on the new computer with Elements 2025.
• Elements 2025 will work with Microsoft Windows 10 (version 22H2) or Windows 11 (version 23H2), 64-bit versions only.

I am just repeating the same question. Elements 2020 will still work with
the old catalog and Elements 2025 will work with the new one.

I'm sorry Bonnie, but your response, as formatted, has become a stream of consciousness for me.  Please separate what your actual questions are.

Don't rely on your computer shop to convert your catalog for you.  Unless they are fully familiar with Photoshop Elements, they won't have a clue what to do.

All contents of your Organizer 2020 catalog will be converted to the Organizer 2025 catalog, including the Organizer's hidden files.  I'm not sure what you mean by folders and file extensions.  The Organizer catalog does not contain any files.  It only provides pointers to the folders and files that are stored on your computer.  In order to transfer your files from one computer to the other, you need to copy them. This can be done by the Elements Backup and Restore tool which is explained in the article I linked in my earlier answer.  If you are using Elements 2025 on the new computer to restore a backup created with Elements 2020 on the old computer, the files can be restored to your new computer with the same folder structure (if you follow the directions) and the catalog will be converted to the 2025 format as part of the restore process.

Elements 2020 and Elements 2025 are two separate programs.  They can both be installed on a single computer and will each work with their own catalogs.  (In order to help other users on this forum, I currently have 16 different versions of Elements installed on my computer.)

Although it is possible to use the 2020 Organizer with the 2025 Editor (if that is what you are asking), I would not advise doing that.  If I have misunderstood your question, please explain in more detail what you want to do.

You will have an empty catalog in Elements 2025.  If you later want to use your old catalog in 2025, you would have to convert it manually, using the File>Manage Catalogs dialog to convert the old catalog to the new version.
