Photoshop Elements 13 Editor won't launch

I've downloaded Photoshop Elements 13, which I've purchased. After completely installing and signing in with my Adobe ID, I'm prompted to accept the EULA again. After clicking Accept, the application closes and doesn't open.

I've uninstalled, rebooted and re-installed the application on my Win 8.1 64-bit system. I had downloaded the PSE 12 trial, which i've uninstalled as well. I know that something was not uninstalled, because after the re-installation I don't see the original splash screen prompting me to choose between the Organizer and the Editor. When I selected the Organizer, it would open fine. I changed the preferences to open immediately in the Editor, hoping that it would launch if that were its only option. This didn't work either. I also tried Adobe online chat support and they advised that they had no online solution to my problem and to post a question in the forum. There is also no phone support option for PSE. What do I do now?

Robert

I've had a similar problem and found it was caused by a bit of Adware called "Web Companion", once uninstalled all was well again.

This morning my PSE 13 would not launch.

I uninstalled it and reinstalled it.  Organizer would then launch, but the editor did not launch.

I downloaded the 13.1 update and installed it.

Now nothing will launch.

Downloaded a trial version from Adobe and installed it.  Opened it up with editor and it opened and then went non responding and closed.  The same thing happened when I opened it with Organizer.

Now, it won't open at all.

I need help form someone, please.

hi Robert

I can not get elements 13 to open at all, it tells me to launch it from my application folder, which is what I am doing, I have tried doing everything adobe suggests, and have tried several times. I contacted  adobe are the are of NO help. they tell me because I bought elements on the app store it is not their problem, Apple tells me seeing that the application does down load its adobes issue!!!!! It seems like I am out $149.99  I am ready to get a hold of a friend who is a lawyer and or someone like the fixer on GMA.  149.99 is a lot of money for anyone to loose, let alone  someone who is a disabled veteran.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Please try out the instructions mentioned in the article:

and see if it helps.

Thanks,

I posted this 6 days ago - Hope it will work for you as well....

Just a heads up.... I found the answer (I surely hope so anyway)

1. Uninstalled PSE v13

2. Used CCleaner to remove extra files

3. Tried to reinstall from disk - seems upon program removal it took something away that was needed to run my DVD burner Said device (DVD player) is working properly - but will NOT play the Adobe DVD... (still not sure if it is working or not)

4. Went to Adobe and downloaded the trial version

5. Added my ID# from box when asked

6. Organizer still would not open

7. Opened Editor v13 and applied update 13.1

8. Organizer still would not open

9. Opened Organizer in v9 - and created new empty catalog

10. Renamed old catalog files

11. Opened Organizer v13 and was FINALLY able to create a new catalog!!!! and Organizer opened!!!!!!!!!!!

Mind you I have tried time and again to create a new catalog file but Organizer 13 has constantly crashed before allowing me.... I 'think' the secret was creating a new catalog in my v9 program FIRST and then trying in v13.... Can't say for sure - just know that I have installed, reinstalled (over first install in case there was a glitch in first one), uninstalled, reinstalled, downloaded updates etc and none of it worked - this did (keeping fingers crossed)

BTW - I have LOST ALL TAGS - on 10's of thousands of photos .... Sigh - lots of work for me to do.........

I have almost the same troubles. Editor will open and work - but Organizer won't open AT ALL (but last night it worked (right after install). I allowed it to create a catalog (from my v9) and closed out for the night. This morning had a auto update for camera raw. Now Editor will open but not Organizer. Tried calling - says no support - tried chat - says no support (even though on website says there is support for 90 days after install chat person said it was only for 90 days after release - geeze!) and now it seems everyone is on the forums with this problem or one very like it and appears not many workable solutions I have used PSE since v2 (Business Edition I think it was called) and now I'm wondering why I am still using Adobe products as they surely don't care much about their customers!....

I can not get PSE13 phot editor to work on my win 7 system.  I have installed it several times and the organizer part of the program works fine, just not the editor part.

I have tried the appmanager/creative cloud update, didn't work.  Tried renaming the files as described in some of the posts, didn't work.

I updated my windows and it shows updated, didn't change a thing.  I can not get editor to open.

As a matter of fact, I can not get creative cloud to sign me in, every time it kicks me back and says I need to sign in again, it is an endless circle.  But, I can sign n on the website.

I tried to go to the 24/7 chat with a live person but it shows unavailable.  I am at a loss for what to do.

Can someone help me get editor working...

Hi,

You can install only 64-bit PSE13 on 64-bit OS.

It seems like you are trying to install a 32-bit version of PSE13.

Please download 64-bit version of PSE13 and then you should be able to install the product.

Thanks,
Anwesha

My computer is running WIN 8.1 64 bit I have been trying to load PSE13 software for about three days now. Adobe has turned what should have been a simple pleasant experience into a frustrating hassle. I have taken all the “you might try this advice” I have been sent in circles, downloading and re-downloading software. My new computer is now littered with unwanted files.

I shouldn’t have to change the name of my OOBE file. I just want it to work.

This is a known issue. Can you fix it?

Another known issue (which you warn about) is the misreading of the redemption code. Maybe use a larger font?

Check to make sure all updates have been performed. I had one update that

failed and wouldn't allow PSE to start.
