Photoshop Elements 13 wont open

New Here ,
Aug 15, 2017 Aug 15, 2017

Hi,

my photoshop elements 13 will not open, regardless of what I do.  It was working fine a few weeks ago, I went on holiday and I'm just back and trying to upload and amend my photos but it just doesn't open.

I tried clicking on the short cut, nothing happens.

I've tried opening the program via the program menu, but nothing happens.

I have a dell laptop with windows 10, it was upgraded from windows 8 about a year ago.

I have had no problems with this in the past.

Can someone help me please, I have hundreds of wonderful pictures I want to download, enhance and publish, but I cannot do anything as elements refuses to work.

Thanks in advance for you help

Jay

Hi,

Apologies for the inconvenience.

  • Please ensure that you've installed all Windows updates.
  • Try restarting your PC.

In case the issue still persists, it's advisable to uninstall and re-install the application using your existing installer.

Thanks,

Arshla

Hi Arshla,

thanks for the response, however I had already checked for updates, and restarted my PC, so that option is not available to me.

I have looked for the original box that the elements 13 came with, but can't find it, but I have the code key listed here on my adobe account.  If I uninstall the application, how can I re-install it - do you have a link I can use?

Also, if I uninstall and re-install will it automatically link to all my old photos?

I'm not a techie, so apologies if these are obvious questions.

Jay

Hi Jay,

You can download from here- Download Photoshop Elements | 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10  (Choose the correct OS and version). Use the same serial number that you already possess.

When you would re-install, all your photos and catalogs would remain intact.

Please let me known if you've any further queries.

Thanks,

Arshla

Hi Arshla,

I managed to uninstall and then install successfully.  I then used the organiser to download almost 1,000 photos from my trip, which was great, but when I tried to use the editor, the editor wouldn't open.  Regardless of what I did.

I tried closing everything down and restart my laptop again, but now nothing will open and I'm back to square one.

can you please explain what is going on?  I am getting increasingly frustrated with trying to use photoshop elements as I do not understand why it has been programmed to suddenly stop working.

Kind regards,

Jay

Arshla,

but now, since the photoshop elements has closed down, I cannot find those picture from my trip on my laptop.

Can someone please please help me?

Hi Jay,

Sincere apologies for being late in responding to you.

Since you say that the Organizer is launching fine, then you should be able to access your images from Organizer if you imported them through Camera and Card reader import mode as they would be copied to your hard disk. To access them, select one of these files in Organizer and click on Location in Information panel on right.

For the issue of Editor not launching, try clearing the application preferences. For this go to location C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\{version number}\Editor and delete everything from here.

Editor should launch fine after this.

Thanks,

Arshla

Hi Arshla,

thanks for coming back to me.  However perhaps I didn't make myself clear in my messages above.

Yes the organiser DID work fine, but after I restarted my computer, photoshop elements 13 wouldn't open again, it went back to the way it was previously, and I searched through all my directories and i could not find my photos from my trip.

I am feeling sick to my stomach that I have lost all my photos and I still cannot use my photoshop elements.

Did you import it through "From Camera or Card Reader"?

Then launch Organizer. If you are not able to launch it, try clearing the application preferences.

Go to location C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Elements Organizer\<version>\Organizer and delete pse.prf and status.dat files from here.

Now try relaunching Organizer .

For locating files from Organizer, select file and click on location from right panel, as instructed in previous replies.

Thanks,

Arshla

Sorry, my bad.

The file name to be deleted is psa.

In case you are not able to locate the exact files, please send me the screenshot of your screen at location C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Elements Organizer\<version>\Organizer and I would let you know the exact ones.

Hi Arshla

sorry for the delay, I've been in Germany visiting friends.  Back now but still no closer to recovering my Thailand pictures or even using photoshop for my new photographs.

I've deleted the file you suggested, but its still not working

I've tried calling up that directory but its hidden for some reason, I only found the other file by searching the c drive for a .psa file

This is getting ridiculous now. Is there any way you could access my pc remotely and get my photoshop and photos back?

cheers,

Jay

Hi Arshla,

I've got many more photographs backing up now as I can't use Photoshop.

I also need to get my Thailand pictures back.

I'm not getting any further using this forum so I'm thinking I will have to take it to the small claims court to get my money back on the photoshop software and also cover the losses of my photographs.

I would of course prefer to fix this asap, but you are not taking this forward and Adobe doesn't seem to care about its customers once you've had our money.

Kind regards,

Jay

Hi Arshla,

its been a few months now and you still haven;t got back to me.  I still cannot get in to Photoshop, not can I find the pictures I have downloaded.

I am worried that I have lost all my Thailand pictures, and it was an expensive trip.

Can you please come back to me with a solution asap as we are off to Northern Sweden over Christmas and the New Year to try to photograph the Northern Lights.

Would upgrading the software resolve the issue?  I am on version 13, and my laptop has windows 10 on it.

I'd appreciate your help on this, or someone from Abode as I feel that I am being left out to dry here.
