Photoshop Elements 15 Restore MIA

New Here ,
May 08, 2019 May 08, 2019

My motherboard recently died  ... so I replaced my computer, reinstalled Photoshop Elements 15.  Now I am trying to restore the catalog from an external drive containing the backed up files that I diligently create once a month.

When I open the program and click on "Organizer" a window opens that states  "Failed to Open Catalog". Click on OK and it opens a window titled "Catalog Manager" that wants me to create a "New" or "Reconfigure" catalog. I am unable to find the restore option.

If you have backed up every month from the organizer menu, you should have as many backup folders. Either full backup or incremental backup ones. Each of those monthly folders contain copies of your media files, plus two important files: catalog.pse15db and backup.tly.

Full backup folders contain copies of all your media files, incremental backup ones only new or changed files.

To restore, you have an option under the File menu (non under manage catalogs, at the same level).

When you reinstalled PSE15, a new empty folder has been created. If for some reason it does not open, use the option you have found to create a new (empty) catalog.

If you have uses another backup method than the organizer one, I am afraid you have lost your catalog.
