Photoshop Elements Editor 19 will not load / open

Editor will not open from either the shortcut contained in the folder or from the Elements interface.  The Elements program will open and Organizer will open.  However, Editor will not.

Editor opened as recently as this morning; however, it ceases to load.  In the Task Manager, it shows an instance of it but it does not load the program.

Thoughts?

PC running Windows 10 with all available updates installed as of 10/14/19

    +++ SOLUTION +++

    I did the following:

    1.  Restarted in safe mode w/ Networking

    2.  Opened Photoshop Elements

    3.  When I did, it opened the Adobe registration program (PDapp.exe) which is new behavior

    4.  I followed the directions and typed in my key to register

    5.  Confirmed Editor opens in safe mode so restarted

    6.  Editor opened in the normal Windows environment so problem solved.

All I can suggest to future readers is to navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\core\ and run the PDapp.exe file to re-register your product.  It doesn't appear that this process would happen if I weren't in safe mode, for reasons I can't explain.  The underlying issue was the program wasn't registered; however, it wouldn't give me an option to register it...it just wouldn't open.

    I hope this helps!

No, the registration application simply wasn't opening. The editor application and the registration application must somehow be linked because neither was opening.

Well done!!   Great trouble-shooting.  Thanks for providing this solution.

I'm curious.  Is it possible that the registration screen was hidden under another window when the problem arose?

Have you added any plug-ins?  If so, check out this article.

Thank you. Yes, in fact these are the steps I've taken thus far with no success:

    1. Killed all PEE 19 tasks in task manager

    2. Restarted computer

    3. Ran PEE 19 as administrator

    4. Deleted preferences per KB article

    5. Uninstalled / Reinstalled being careful to choose "delete preferences"

Every time I click on PEE 19 directly or attempt to open in through the Elements interface, it just loads the file in Task Manager but doesn't open the program.

Did you close all Elements processes in Task Manager and try again? Have you rebooted?

Try deleting the preferences file.  See instructions in KB article here.

What were you doing in the Editor the time before you were  unable to launch it?
