Photoshop elements question [In before/after, the image has changed slightly even before I do any editing.]

When I import a photo into photoshop elements and look at the before/after, the image has changed slightly even before I do any editing. Skin tones appear slightly more red than in the before (original). Does anyone know why this is happening?
