Alas poor Yorick, A lot are, a lot are not. I know what the capabilities are of both programs, so it is easy for me to say "Yeah, thats a cool video, but 25% of it won't work in PSE.
When using the editor simply press F1.
Many will to watch this guy, or that person, or buy into this series, or those lessons- do what makes you happy. Watching youtube video to learn something in pse does not make me happy so I don't watch them generally.
I made this 3 years ago, it's pretty good for people(like me) who hate to watch youtube videos.

For an experienced user, such ass myself, yes, I find some of the PS tutorials helpful- but I also subscribe to photoshop.
Many users think "I'll just watch a youtube video and be able to edit like a pro with a few mouse clicks"-- Nope, that will never happen.
I also caution new users against spending big bucks on plugins for pse simply because many do not realize it takes pract\ice and more than a few mouse clicks to fix an image. People don't even use 3/4 of the program and will drop $100 on a set of plugins that contain even more options? That makes zero sense to me.
The guidedl edits are designed for new users- don't be afraid to use them.
ALSO: Don't think by watching a youtube video or two you will "Know Photoshop elements"--- nope. Instead of actually using the program you spent time watching videos, many of which leave a lot to be desired, or use old outdated versions of the software.
Get ready! An upgraded Adobe Community experience is coming in January.
