Photoshop Elements und Lightroom

Community Beginner ,
Feb 13, 2019 Feb 13, 2019

Hallo ,

If I understand well, you have Photoshop Elements and your are satisfied with it.

You have discovered Lightroom presets which you like and which you  would like to use in your Elements version.

The LR presets are saved settings for specific effects.

LR and Elements are able to share the same settings, for instance for white balance, shadows / highligts, clarity. But the file format for LR presets is not recognized by Elements, even if the sliders settings can be applied by both softwares.

The settings used in LR (for all sliders) can be recognized by the ACR 'Camera raw' mode of Elements.

The only way I know for that is to recover a sample file edited with the preset in LR, with the .xmp sidecar text file acompanying the LR file.

You can open that file in the ACR module of Elements.

The settings are recognized (even settings not available in the trimmed ACR version of Elements) and you can see the effect.

Then you open the file to which you want to apply the preset, and you apply the 'previous conversion' profile. Your image will get the effect of the preset.

As you can see, Instead of 'preset' files, you need files already processed with the preset in LR as a way to store the presets.

For instance, if you have a friend who has LR and the presets, you can ask him to create files corresponding to those presets.

You store them somewhere as your preset equivalents library.

When you need to apply a preset, you open the LR file, click 'Done' without changing anything, you close and open your target file and apply the 'previous conversion' setting.
