Photshop elements 11 invades most of my other programs!

New Here ,
Feb 02, 2017 Feb 02, 2017

I have tried several times to install Photoshop Elements 11 on my computer, using the cd.  Each time, it invades, takes over most of my other programs.  My desktop icons change from say, Mozilla to the photosp symbol.  When I try to open say, Mozilla, photoshop opens.  When I uninstall PS Elements & restart my computer, all return to normal.  During installation, when the option for where to install the program, I have tried just the default, I have tried just an adobe folder & lastly, tried creating a new folder.  Nothing works!  I want PS Elements 11 primarily to be able to use the Nik Collection.  PS is not my primary editing program so am not familiar  w/it.  I am on Windows 7 Premium 32 bit.

I am a computer dummy so, please HELP!!!

Thanks,

Tracey

Tracey when Photoshop Elements installs it will set itself as the default application for many of the common image types.  You can find details on how you can adjust the file association to a different program at File associations broken | Uninstall Adobe Creative Suite applications | Windows .

If you have additional questions then the community in the Photoshop Elements forum may be able to provide additional suggestions.
