PS15-Severe Pixelation Occurs In "Process Multiple Files"

Hello,

I recently purchased the Adobe Photoshop Elements 15 program and also recently went from using Windows 7 to Windows 10. There was a program that came with Win7 (Windows Live Media Gallery) I could use to resize-down multiple large .jpg files at once for later processing/sharing without any noticeable pixelation.

Since such a program not available in 10, I used the "Process Multiple Files" option within the PS15 editor. I did this for quite a few folders of pics before discovering severe pixelation in the smaller images (1280x853) when compared to the original (5472x3648).

So I opened an original (5472) in PS15, and using "Image>Resize>Image Size" downsized to the same (1280) and the pixelation did not happen. I believe it's because the right boxes are ticked in the drop-down options in "Image>Resize>Image Size". It appears these options are not available when using "Process Multiple Files".

Am I missing something? I don't see any way to change settings or whatever in the process multiple images window.

Please advise...

Thanks!

/Edit: I think the only solution will be to find a small app online just for downsampling my images-in which case, any suggestions would be appreciated as well

Maybe you have not seen the bottom of the dialog, where you are asked for the output format. You can choose four jpeg compression levels from low to 'max'.

Hm..it says "JPEG Max Quality"..leading me to think this is the default setting,  although the box is unticked and dialog greyed-out...perhaps I should have had that box ticked?

Also (if I may), in your opinion would a dedicated app I might find online work better for this purpose? The one in PS15 for batch downsampling is a bit clunky. (or I'm just not used to it

On a completely different note-as I'm typing my reply here the page keeps disappearing/jumping back to the top (now using wordpad to reply)
