Hello,

is it possible to just download a file using one machine and then complete the installation on another one without the download being "counted" as installation? licence is only valid for 2 machines and the machine i would be using for the download cannot be used to run the program.

Downloading is not the same as installing.

Downloading is just saving the installation file.

Yes you can install on 3 or 6 or any number of machines as long as only two are activated (signed in)
