PSE 18 - Organiser / Mask photos

Hello

There  is a function in the menu "edit"  called "mask  / unmask" photos in the catalog.

I cannot find explications in the help menus. Using it, I cannot see what is actually done. "Masked" photos, still appear in the different selections (by namled persons, location etc...).

What I was looking for,  is a function which whilst the photos would exist in the catalog and woul be properly indexed with persons, locations, events,  labels etc ... would be masked in the selection results  when marked as such, or be visible when unmasked...

Thanks to give some clues about what this "mask" function does in the "edit" menu and if what I am looking for is possible and how ...

    Alain,

It looks like that you are using the French version. The English word is 'Hide' or 'unhide'. There is nothing mysterious about that function. You get a menu Affichage >> Fichiers masqués which lets you mask or unmask and show or not... That works exactly as you want. If you choose to "Afficher tous les fichiers", the hidden ones become visible with a small barred eye icon in the bottom left.

Thank you for this very quick answer.

I suppose that my first try was unsuccesfull because the second parameter called 'visibilité" was not correctly set.

Indeed everything works fine, and as I expected.

This is the second time you helped me. (My first problem was about using the catalog on multiple computer). .

You may be interested to know that i am progressing with the installation of  over 30000 photos in PSE, coming from Picasa.

The automatic face recognition is done after days and nights  of heavy CPU activity, and I am know inspecting the résults.

Already over 150 locations, 100 people, 100 events and 150 labels are created. Probably an other 800 hours of work to complete the task, but the result is up to my expectation.

    Best regards
