Removing Discoloration

I have an old wedding photo ( about 35 years old) that was displayed with an oval matting.  The oval portion of the photo has a yellowish tint to it.  Is it possible to remove the discoloration using Elements 8?  If so, how?

    It took some playing around but I finally got it to look better.  I couldn't remove it completely but now it's barely noticeable.  Thanks for the help!

    Another thing you might try is the Sponge tool with the desaturate option.

    Compare this with the 2nd picture in my previous post. I desaturated some more yellow from her lips and cheeks.

    The success (or failure) depends of course on the underlying color.

    Add a Hue/Saturation adjustment. Choose Yellows from the pull-down list and move the Saturation slider left.

    Since the picture is old, you might want to consider converting it to an antique sepia look.

    There are many ways to do this, but here is one I normally use:

    Add a Hue/Saturation adjustment.  Choose Master from the list (the default).

    Check the Colorize box.

    Play around with the sliders to get a sepia color.

    I recommend starting with Hue 30 and Saturation 25 and adjusting Lightness as needed.
