Resetting Preferences

I have seen this mentioned before on this forum but I can't find it now. There are 2 or 3 keys that can be pressed and held down when launching PSE that brings up a prompt to Reset Preferences. What is that key sequence?

Correct answer Greg_S.

Walter, the KB shortcut is Alt+Shift+Ctrl. A message should pop up asking if you want to delete the Settings file. Answer OK.  You can use this for the Organizer which does not have the reset button in Preferences.

First, locate the Photoshop shortcut that you usually use to open the app. To do this on Windows, open the “Start” menu and search for “Adobe Photoshop.” On Mac, in a Finder window, click Go > Applications in the menu bar, find and double-click the Photoshop folder, and you’ll see the “Adobe Photoshop” app file.

  • Hold down Shift-Ctrl-Alt (PC) or Shift-cmd-option (Mac) and click the Photoshop icon (or double click if necessary) to start the application. Keep holding the 3 keys down.
  • You will be asked to confirm that you wish to delete the Settings File: release the 3 keys and click on Yes:

It's easier to use the menu Edit > Preferences > General and click the button 'Reset preferences on next launch'.
