I teach senior citizens how to use Photoshop Elements. This year I have been asked by several students why in their new 2018 version, the marching ants around a selection in barley visible. Everything else appears clear and the brightness and contrast are appropriate. Zoom level does not appear to make a difference.
For older users, this is a problem. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Unfortunately there is no way to customize the 'marching ants'.
What helps a little:
- switching rapidly between 100% view and full window with the two top icons of the tool strip on the left, the magnifying glass and the hand.
- creating a blank layer with the selection active, and use the menu Edit >> Stroke with 5 pixels width or more. Visible, but static.
- Before creating the selection, add a brightness/contrast adjustment layer with default settings. Once the selection is made, decrease the brightness.
