Is it possible to easily show the location on a map of a single photo in Elements Organiser (version 18).
In 'Media' view of a single photo, clicking the 'Keyword/Info' tab (bottom right corner) brings up information/metadata, including GPS co-ordinates. However I cannot find an easy way to show the location on a map of a single photo.
The only way I can find is to go into 'Places' and search every group of (pinned) photos until I am lucky enough to find the single photo I am looking for - if I do not know the location of the photo, it is very time consuming.
This was very easy in Google Picasa - you could click on the location tab for any photo and the map location would be shown next to the photo - but Picasa now has multiple bugs (as is no longer being developed).
I have an iPhone (with GPS) and a standard camera (without GPS). I would load the photos from both into Picasa and they would be listed according to date/time taken so it was an easy matter to give the unpinned photos a location by using the map location of the nearest iPhone photo. Also I could give the photo an appropriate file name from looking at the map. This is what I was hoping Elements could do.
I have tried Google photos but 1) its a cloud service & 2) it does not do the above.
An additional question: the iPhone has photo direction information stored in the metadata, as well as GPS co-ordinates: I see this metatdata is listed in Elements. In some iPhone apps the direction of view can be shown so I can work out what I was looking at when the photo was taken - makes it easier to give the photo an appropriate name. Can Elements (or any other PC photo organising software) display the direction of view on a map ?
I know I am swimming against the tide but I like to have an appropriate file structure to my photos (ie year and the option to have sub folders for holidays etc).

Hi McSkelley,
Thanks for your feedback. Organizer groups together the images taken at a particular location and places them as pins on the map. To view all the images on a location you'll have to double click on the pin. You can also see the images in a pin by clicking on the arrow buttons on either side of a pin. So, at present only grouped images in form of pins can be viewed on the map.
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for getting back. Do you know if there are any plans to:
1) allow individual photos with adjoining map view
2) have map view in combined 'pinned' & 'unpinned' photos (so allowing easy geotagging of unpinned photos)
All the best,
Douglas King

This is a really infuriating situation and yet it seems like a problem easily solved. If I could find a program that is easier to handle than Photoshop Elements (like an idiot I upgrade every year hoping for improvement but it never comes) I would switch like that.

Hmmm so basically you're saying that PSE doesn't support showing the location of a particular photo on the map.
My suggestion is upload your photos to google photos, then clicking on the info icon for any given photo will show the location.
Or, try ACDSee, which also will allow you to select a photo and then show the location of that photo on a map (ironically, ACD Systems hasn't had issues getting their google maps functionality to continue working across product versions, too).
