Simplest way to move images and have catalog re-point

Hi.  PSE13 user here

I've googled/searched for what I think is a simple answer, but i'm not really finding wthe 'exact' answer.

I have an older hard drive that is failing (J Drive).  It is making it very hard to import new photos.  It takes up to a couple hours for 50 images.  I manually copied all images from J drive to a P drive (mostly to preserve them before it's too late).   Now I want my organizer (or catalog) to see all my images on the P drive, including all the images i've tagged with such and such tags.  

If i import the images from the new file locations, I lose all the tags.

Can anyone help me understand the best way to achieve my objective?
